Eva Miller MPS, ATR, LCMHC
Hi, I'm Eva Miller. I am a registered art therapist, as well as a licensed clinical mental health counselor in North Carolina.
Finding a good "fit" when considering therapy is very personal, so a bit about my background... My professional roots began at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where I received a BA in studio art with a concentration in printmaking. Following that, I worked at a grassroots nonprofit in CT that provided services to families affected by HIV/AIDS. I have always believed in the healing power of the arts, and using art and creativity in my work with families experiencing loss solidified my desire to pursue art therapy. I trained at Pratt Institute in New York, receiving a masters degree in Art Therapy & Creativity Development in 1999. |
My work has taken place in a variety of settings and I have tailored my approach to meet the needs of those with whom I am working. In Brooklyn, NY I worked with families in transition through a community support organization. I used art therapy with individuals and families and developed several teen groups. Since returning to NC in 2002, I have provided art therapy services at in-patient psychiatric hospitals, community centers, support centers for adults with acquired brain injury, schools, longterm care facilities, medical hospitals, clinics, and eating disorder facilities. The small but vibrant community of art therapists in this area has been a great inspiration to me, and I am proud to be one of the co-founders of the Art Therapy Institute, a local nonprofit based out of Carrboro.
In addition to the work I am doing in the community, I am inspired to work with individuals in and around the Raleigh area where there are limited art therapy services. Triangle Art Therapy began in April 2013 as part of this vision.
My dog, Portabella, often joins me on telehealth sessions and enjoys witnessing the creative process.
